Edward ("Ed") Davis is head of general liability in the Dallas office of Lewis Brisbois and was recently named to the 2026 edition of The Best Lawyers in America! Ed has been practicing law for over 25 years and taken over 90 complex and high-profile cases to trial or arbitrations with notable success in both State and Federal Court in some of the notoriously unfriendly venues in Texas and other states. Over the past several years, Ed’s practice has focused on defending trucking companies and commercial vehicle operators, and premises liability claims. Ed’s cases often carry exposure into the tens of millions of dollars which speaks to the trust placed in him by his clients. 

Trucking accident cases go well beyond the scope of the everyday personal injury claim and proper defense of a trucking accident requires a trucking lawyer. Ed knows the ins and outs of the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s rules and regulations that every trucking company should be aware of and how compliance or lack of compliance with these regulations can impact the outcome of a personal injury lawsuit against a trucking company and its driver. He has experience with DOT compliance and auditing, CSA and SMS rating profiles, document retention requirements, training requirements, drug testing requirements, and many other necessities.

Ed is the designated Dallas attorney to call for catastrophic cases having implemented an emergency response protocol to provide immediate accident investigation services for severe trucking accidents that occur throughout the state. He has used the protocol to personally respond to clients over 25 times after hours and on weekends when the need arises.

Ed and his team also handle most any type of premises liability claim involving a business, commercial or residential property. Trip and falls, housing defects resulting in injuries, and negligent maintenance are the typical types of cases, but he also handles dog bite claims and HOA disputes.
