Jonathan Beckerman is a nationally recognized trial lawyer and litigator with nearly 25 years of experience representing employers in complex labor and employment matters nationwide. He serves as Vice Chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Labor & Employment and Wage & Hour Class Actions Practices, and co-manages these practices based out of the Houston and Fort Lauderdale offices. Jonathan maintains an active physical presence and residence in both regions each month, reflecting his commitment to serving clients throughout the firm’s footprint.
One of the few labor and employment attorneys with first-chair experience in jury trials, bench trials, and arbitrations, Jonathan combines deep trial experience with practical business insight. He is known for being highly responsive, deeply engaged, and personally invested in every client relationship—partnering with employers as an extension of their organization to deliver efficient, strategic, and results-driven representation. Jonathan maintains a national practice and collaborates closely with colleagues across Lewis Brisbois’ platform to provide coordinated, consistent support to clients with operations in multiple states.
A trusted advisor as well as a litigator, Jonathan partners with clients to align legal strategy with business objectives, helping them navigate complex risk while advancing organizational goals. His practice focuses on litigation, trial work, and high-stakes disputes, including:
• Non-compete, trade secret, and restrictive-covenant litigation
• Wrongful termination, discrimination, and harassment defense
• Wage and hour class and collective actions
• Whistleblower and retaliation claims
• Employment contracts, leave laws, and accommodation disputes
In addition to his trial and litigation work, Jonathan provides day-to-day counseling and strategic advice on workplace compliance, investigations, and risk management. He conducts training programs for executives, managers, and staff on harassment prevention, workforce relations, and emerging employment-law issues. Jonathan also represents employers before government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), defending clients through every phase of investigation, negotiation, and hearing.
At the forefront of emerging workplace trends, Jonathan regularly advises employers on the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in hiring and performance management, employee social-media activity, and the growing intersection of technology and employment law. He counsels clients on compliance with new federal and state legislation such as the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and on navigating heightened enforcement efforts by agencies including the DOL, NLRB, and EEOC. Jonathan also guides employers through the shifting regulatory environment surrounding non-compete and restrictive-covenant agreements, the expanding definition of independent contractors, and complex wage-and-hour classification issues. He frequently authors and presents on these topics, helping employers anticipate—not simply react to—changes in the workplace and regulatory environment.
Jonathan is proficient in Spanish and frequently assists clients with multilingual workforce communications, investigations, and training.
