Alex MacMullan is a partner in the Philadelphia office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Directors & Officers, General Liability and Appellate Practices. Mr. MacMullan maintains a diverse practice that includes corporate and commercial litigation, constitutional litigation, appellate litigation, high-stakes disputes of corporations and stockholders, and a wide variety of general liability matters. He also has represented plaintiffs in federal and state appellate courts, in matters alleging constitutional or statutory violations by state and local government officials.

Some of Mr. MacMullan’s accomplishments include:

  • Obtained summary judgment in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, upheld on appeal to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania in a matter granting Statutory Employer immunity to a nursing home defendant. Learn more here.
  • Assisted in obtaining summary judgment on behalf of 18-20 year-olds in the State of Delaware challenging a law restricting their Article I, Section 20 rights to bear common arms.
  • Obtained summary judgment in Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of a credit union in a matter involving the administration of a forced place insurance plan where plaintiffs alleged breach of contract, fiduciary duty and violation of Act 6 of 1974 
  • Obtained partial summary judgment in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, dismissing punitive damages, negligent hiring and supervision and loss of consortium in a transportation matter
  • Obtained summary judgment in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of traffic signal subcontractor sued in a multi-fatality, multi-defendant matter
  • Obtained dismissal of Complaint in Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas on basis of Preliminary Objections demonstrating Pennsylvania resident plaintiffs lacked general or specific personal jurisdiction over Florida-licensed real estate agents in the sale of Florida real property
  • Drafted briefs in state and federal trial and appellate courts bringing challenges to a wide variety of state laws restricting plaintiffs’ Second Amendment rights
  • Represented plaintiffs who suffered catastrophic injuries in 2015 Frankford Junction derailment through MDL damages assessment and in favorable Social Security Disability appeal

Mr. MacMullan received his J.D. from Tulane University Law School in 2013 and his B.A. from Kenyon College in 2007. He is a member of the Bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the State of New Jersey, the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third and Fifth Circuits.
