Jim Hailey to Present Two Panels at NICB Insurance Fraud Management Conference
New Orleans Partner James W. Hailey, III will present two panels at the upcoming National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) Insurance Fraud Management Conference, hosted at Omni Orlando Resort from March 6-9.
New Orleans, La. (February 28, 2022) - New Orleans Partner James W. Hailey, III will present two panels at the upcoming National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) Insurance Fraud Management Conference, hosted at Omni Orlando Resort from March 6-9.
In a panel on March 7 at 11:35 a.m. ET titled “CAT’s Out of the Bag: Insurance Fraud in Catastrophic Losses,” Mr. Hailey and his co-panelists will address the role of claims adjusters, SIUs and counsel when recognizing and investigating questionable claims that often arise following CAT losses. They will also discuss the various "schemes" that may arise involving public adjusters, contractors, and insureds in these circumstances, including how different types of CAT losses are ripe for fraud.
In a following panel on March 8 at 2:00 p.m. ET titled “Advanced Vehicles, Unsophisticated Criminals: Using Science & Technology to Prove Your Case,” Mr. Hailey and his co-panelists will discuss methods to enter a vehicle, ways to bypass or defeat lock mechanisms, and vehicles’ anti-theft and engine immobilizer/transponder systems. They will also discuss how to build a solid case and identify successful and proven approaches in exposing criminal behavior.
Mr. Hailey is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ Insurance Coverage Practice. He focuses on assisting insurance and corporate clients in detecting, deterring, and defeating fraud in construction, premises, transportation, and general litigation matters, including coverage. He is also an active member of the Louisiana Bar and sits on the state's Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee.
