Matthew J. McDonnell is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Business Practices focusing on the Commercial Lending Practice, Real Estate & Land Use Practice and Banking & Finance Practice. He is experienced in both litigation and transactional work related to real estate and corporate matters, representing financial institutions, quasi-governmental entities, residential mortgage loan originators and servicers, along with business owners and individuals.  

Matthew’s real estate experience also includes Landlord/Tenant matters in both the transactional and litigation spaces. His experience includes lease drafting/review, advising owners and property managers on legal developments, handling evictions and resolving disputes arising from lease agreements.

Matthew’s transactional experience comes from working for clients on complex commercial loan transactions involving the securitization of real property and personal property assets, as well as corporate business and real property sales, mergers and acquisitions. His practice also involves real property and corporate due diligence, as well as commercial real estate leasing.

Matthew’s litigation practice encompasses both plaintiff and defense work related to real property, loan origination, loan servicing, title insurance, corporate contract, and related issues. Matthew has successfully defended against borrower RESPA, TILA, and FDCPA claims and advised clients on regulatory matters involving those statutes. His litigation practice has produced a range of positive results for clients such as a successful arbitration award for monetary compensation in a breach of contract in a corporate dispute to the avoidance of a deed in a transfer of real property perpetuated by fraud.
