Matthew is an associate at Lewis Brisbois and a member of the general liability practice group. Matthew has experience defending premises owners including sports organizations, apartment complexes, and hotels against lawsuits ranging from minor slip and falls to civil liability for shootings and sexual assaults. He also has experience with defending medical malpractice cases against nurses and nursing home. Matthew’s experience includes litigation at the state and federal level within Georgia. Matthew is a skilled advocate with trial experience, but also has expertise in pre-lawsuit investigations of claims to protect his clients’ interests before any lawsuit reaches the courthouse steps.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois Matthew began his legal career as an assistant district attorney in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit within Georgia where he gained valuable trial experience. He then worked for a boutique law firm in Atlanta which specialized in bringing civil RICO and asset forfeiture claims under Georgia’s RICO statute against white collar criminals and illegal drug rings across the State on behalf of district attorney’s offices as specially appointed prosecutors.

Matthew also has gained experience in receiverships, having worked on cases in which his firm served as a receiver responsible for maintaining the assets of an active company during highly contested ownership disputes and in Civil RICO cases where a receiver is often appointed to maintain the assets of the accused.

Just before joining Lewis Brisbois, Matthew worked for an Alpharetta law firm bringing and defending lawsuits related to construction disputes and breach of contract claims where he represented property owners, small businesses, general contractors, and subcontractors.

Matthew obtained his law degree from Georgia State University’s College of Law where he graduated with honors in 2018.
