Webinar Series: Mergers & Acquisitions - The Making of the Transaction and Defending the Lawsuit

Orange County, Calif. (August 29, 2023) – Akron Managing Partner David Kern, Houston Partner Andrew Pidgirsky, and Fort Lauderdale Partner Jeffrey Weinstock will present a webinar titled “Mergers & Acquisitions: The Making of the Transaction and Defending the Lawsuit,” on September 21, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. PT.

During this informative 60-minute CLE session, our speakers will discuss potential failures at various stages of a transaction that can lead to litigation. They will also explore the defense for any investigations and lawsuits that might arise, data breach issues, and the available insurance solutions that may help mitigate losses to the parties involved in the transaction. Moderated by Orange County Partner Esther Holm, this program will provide valuable insight to insurance and business professionals on the actions taken (or not taken) during a transaction.

Mr. Kern serves as chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Tax Practice and as a member of the Corporate Practice. He works with clients to develop and execute business savvy legal and tax strategies for businesses from early stage through maturity and sale or merger, with a view toward maximizing benefit to their owners and investors. Mr. Kern often acts as primary outside counsel to middle market companies owned by private individuals, investment and private equity firms, and public companies. 

Mr. Pidgirsky is a vice-chair of the Corporate Practice and chair of the firm's Ukraine Conflict Response team. He has been practicing law since 1990 and has extensive experience in the areas of energy, transactions, finance, technology and international law. His clients include public corporations, international companies and start-up enterprises. Mr. Pidgirsky has represented United States companies on legal matters in over 50 foreign jurisdictions.

Mr. Weinstock is a National Vice-Chair of the Securities & Corporate Finance Practice and a member of the Corporate Practice. Mr. Weinstock has over 20 years of experience advising public and private businesses, commercial and mezzanine lenders, private equity firms, startups, health care practices and providers, investors and business owners with respect to corporate law, taxation, purchase and sale of corporations and corporate divisions, real estate transactions, commercial loan transactions, leasing transactions, financing arrangements and operation of joint ventures.

Ms. Holm is co-chair of the Professional Liability Practice, and vice-chair of the Product Liability Practice. Her specialty is Trial Practice in Professional, General, Employment, Transportation and Product Liability matters. She moderates all sessions that are part of this General Webinar series by Lewis Brisbois.
