Nathan Sheffield is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois, with more than 20 years of experience advising clients across entertainment, media, and sports. 

He represents producers, talent, creative teams, and rights holders in connection with television, film, and stage productions (including Broadway, West End, regional theaters, and domestic and international touring shows). He is consistently recognized as a trusted legal advisor in the industry. His work frequently involves complex negotiations, intellectual property strategy, licensing arrangements, union and guild compliance, and securities matters related to financing for film and live theatre, ensuring clients maximize creative and commercial opportunities.

Nathan’s practice extends beyond traditional entertainment to include Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights, endorsement and sponsorship agreements, and brand partnerships for actors, directors, celebrity chefs, and athletes.

In addition, Nathan advises on the formation and compliance of non-profit corporations, including organizations supporting the arts and charitable initiatives, ensuring clients meet governance and regulatory requirements.

Before his legal career, Nathan worked for a private equity real estate firm in New York City and interned for the Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey during law school.
