Dan Schmidt is an associate in the Portland office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. Dan has experience representing clients in civil litigation suits involving discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, and termination claims as well as handling workplace safety matters across the Pacific Northwest and helping establish best practices for business.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Dan worked at another national law firm doing employment and labor work. Before his career as an attorney, Dan served nine years as an Armor officer in the United States Army, deploying in support of the War on Terror and serving in a variety of positions both at home and abroad. As a combined result of his time in the Army and his decision to attend law school in Malibu, Dan has also had the unique opportunity to contribute as a military advisor to multiple films, most recently Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant where, in addition to providing insight to military customs and the proper wear of the uniform, Dan appeared in the film.

In his free time, Dan is an avid indoorsman, preferring to spending time with his wife and son in places where the climate can be controlled – such as in front of a television, cheering on his beloved Baltimore Orioles.
