Shawn Schatzle is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the firm's appellate practice group. A seasoned litigator with experience in a wide variety of practice areas, Shawn focuses on appellate litigation and complex trial-level motion practice.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Shawn spent years serving in the public sector. During his time at New York's Appellate Division, Second Department, he served as the principal law clerk to Hon. Lourdes M. Ventura and worked on a broad range of appeals. These included, among others, appeals in election law proceedings, criminal actions, commercial disputes, and child custody proceedings, as well as personal injury actions involving claims of premises liability, medical malpractice, and violations of New York's Labor Law. Prior to joining the Second Department, Shawn served as an assistant attorney general at the Office of the New York State Attorney General, where he defended federal and state court actions against government officers and employees.

Before his time in the public sector, Shawn spent nearly a decade working in private practice, first gaining experience at a plaintiff-side civil litigation firm in Queens. He then worked at a mid-sized insurance defense firm in Manhattan, where he focused on Labor Law, Dram Shop, premises liability, and negligent security actions. During his time at that firm, Shawn also represented athletes and coaches in matters before the U.S. Center for SafeSport.

Shawn resides in Long Beach with his wife, who is also an attorney, and two boys.
