Bette Matheny is a partner in the New Orleans office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. Bette has extensive experience in both federal and state court throughout Louisiana. After graduating from law school, Bette served as a law clerk to the Honorable James J. Brady, United States District Judge for the Middle District of Louisiana. Bette is a former prosecutor for the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office where she served as senior trial attorney.
Bette’s primary practice areas include insurance defense and property and casualty litigation. She has defended clients in a broad range of matters including personal injury, construction litigation, first-party property disputes, insurance coverage, premises liability, and commercial litigation. She has extensive experience in first-party property matters, including hundreds of successful mediations.
Bette is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. She stays active in local professional and charitable organizations, most recently serving as President of both the Louisiana Claims Association and the New Orleans Claims Association.
