Chicago, Ill. (April 4, 2025) – Chicago Associate Rachel S. Mahoney and Partner Mary A. Smigielski will provide updates on Illinois labor and employment law at the upcoming Chicago Bar Association (CBA) webinar on April 22 at 2:00 p.m. CT.
Ms. Smigielski will be joined by Michael P. Halpin (Johnson & Bell, Ltd.) to moderate this 90-minute panel discussion with Ms. Mahoney and co-panelist Lydia Colunga-Merchant (Illinois Department of Labor). This session will explore the sweeping changes to Illinois employment law taking effect in 2025, including updates to whistleblower protections, pay transparency, personnel records, and new worker rights laws. Panelists will also cover pending legislation that could further impact employers across the state. CLE credits are available.
Ms. Mahoney is a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. She represents employers in all aspects of business and employment-related matters in state and federal courts, as well as before state agencies. Ms. Mahoney’s practice focuses on the defense of employers in individual and multi-plaintiff class action lawsuits against claims of harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and retaliation.
Ms. Smigielski is the Midwest Regional Vice Chair of Lewis Brisbois' Labor & Employment Practice and the leader of the firm’s Chicago Employment Practice. She is also serving as chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s (CBA) Labor & Employment Law Committee for the 2024-2025 term.
