Stephenie Alexander is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Employment Advice and Counseling Practice. Stephenie’s practice focuses on providing employment advice and counsel to organizations across a wide array of industries on all aspects of the employment relationship, including but not limited to, hiring/onboarding practices, classifications of workers, drug testing and background checks/Ban the Box laws, joint employment issues, equal employment laws, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, performance management, sensitive terminations and reductions in force.
With an extensive background in employment advice and counsel through serving in both capacities as in-house counsel and as senior counsel at a law firm, Stephenie understands the importance of providing practical and effective employment solutions to help employers navigate the complexities of employment law. Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Stephenie served as the Director of Legal Affairs and Compliance for a multi-national staffing company and provided day-to-day counsel on employment matters and compliance best practices. While working as senior counsel, Stephenie served as a trusted advisor on employment matters to companies and non-profit organizations of all sizes. In addition, Stephenie brings a significant litigation foundation of over 20 years to her practice, including single plaintiff and PAGA/representative actions before federal and state courts and responding to charges filed with various federal and state agencies.
Stephenie is an active member of the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI-CH) and conducts workplace investigations which involve allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace misconduct, among others.
Tailored to the specific operations of each organization, Stephenie also regularly works with employers in drafting compliant policies and procedures, handbooks, employment agreements/offer letters, arbitration agreements, performance review documentation, separation agreements and other employment documents and forms. She also conducts personnel trainings on a variety of employment topics including harassment prevention, performance management, leaves and accommodations and wage and hour issues.
