Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (January 5, 2026) - Fort Lauderdale Partner Jeffrey Weinstock recently spoke with the University of Miami School of Law (Miami Law) for an article titled, “School of Law Alum Leads in Corporate Law with Nearly 30 Years of Expertise.” During the interview, Mr. Weinstock offered insight into how his education and experiences at Miami Law helped shape his career.
Mr. Weinstock observed that several members of Miami Law’s “excellent faculty” influenced his path because they “had significant experience in major law firms” and taught students about “the practical and interpersonal aspects of surviving as a business attorney.” He also noted that the school’s “high expectations” and use of “the Socratic method” taught him to “think critically” and “analyze complex legal issues under pressure,” a skill that [he has] used almost every day of practice.” Mr. Weinstock added, “Practical experience gained in moot court competitions and clinical placements through the litigation skills program helped me to gain the real-world experience.”
In addition, Mr. Weinstock explained that he formed important connections at Miami Law. Noting that the school has an “excellent alumni network,” he explained, “You also can’t beat the connections to South Florida’s legal and business communities.” Mr. Weinstock further described, “After practicing for almost 30 years, the majority of which have been in South Florida, I still regularly consult and socialize with friends and colleagues from Miami Law. These relationships, combined with the top-notch legal education I received at Miami and its collaborative environment, strengthened my professional network and have proven time and again how lucky I am to be a Miami law alum!”
Mr. Weinstock serves as national vice-chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Securities & Corporate Finance practice and as a member of the Corporate practice group. He advises businesses, lenders, private equity firms, and health care providers in mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, taxation, and complex transactions.
