Wilmington Managing Partner Francis G.X. Pileggi recently spoke with Law360 Pulse for an article titled, “What Delaware Legal Leaders Are Thinking About For 2026,” which describes the issues that experienced Delaware attorneys expect to emerge during 2026.

Wilmington, Del. (January 13, 2026) - Wilmington Managing Partner Francis G.X. Pileggi recently spoke with Law360 Pulse for an article titled, “What Delaware Legal Leaders Are Thinking About For 2026,” which describes the issues that experienced Delaware attorneys expect to emerge during 2026.

Mr. Pileggi told Law360 Pulse that although he would not offer predictions concerning "the perennial issue of whether other states will topple Delaware from its place at the top of the perch of corporate law," he did not expect such an event to occur anytime soon. He also noted, "The market may be the ultimate arbiter." Mr. Pileggi further explained that the legal community in the First State was united in seeking to maintain the state's corporate law prowess even if there were differing opinions concerning how to do so.

In addition, Mr. Pileggi spoke optimistically regarding relations between the plaintiffs’ and defense bars, noting that the “civility” that had always been present in the Delaware bar would prevail over any tension in the coming year. Rejecting “doom and gloom” perspectives and describing that he was “still very optimistic for the future,” Mr. Pileggi suggested, “Maybe that is because 2025 was my best year ever . . . 2025 has been a banner year for us. . . We’ve been busier than ever.”

The other attorneys who spoke with Law360 Pulse for the article explained that issues and trends they expected to see during 2026 included Delaware's continued preeminence in corporate law, an upswing in commercial leasing and financing due to a construction boom in Delaware, discourse on the best uses for artificial intelligence, and companies’ determining whether to keep their legal domicile in the First State.

Mr. Pileggi is chair of Lewis Brisbois’ Directors & Officers Litigation practice and a member of its Complex Business & Commercial Litigation practice. His litigation practice emphasizes representation in high-stakes disputes of corporations, stockholders, members of boards of directors, members and managers of LLCs, and those with managerial or ownership interests in other forms of entities. Mr. Pileggi has extensive experience in matters involving fiduciary duties and corporate governance as well as summary proceedings under the Delaware General Corporation Law (DGCL) in the Delaware Court of Chancery.
