Boston Managing Partner Kenneth B. Walton and Partner Matthew M. O' Leary recently secured summary judgment on behalf of a civil engineering firm in a serious personal injury matter arising from a trip-and-fall incident in a mall parking lot. 

The client was retained to provide site civil engineering design for the parking lot of a local mall. The design included multiple bioretention areas known as rain gardens. In November of 2019, a woman tripped and fell while attempting to cross a rain garden to reach her car. She suffered significant bodily injuries, including a fracture of the cervical spine that resulted in partial paralysis.

He regularly handles matters such as entity structuring, corporate governance, and general commercial transactions on behalf of organizations across several industries, including cannabis, international manufacturing, intellectual property licensing, cryptocurrency, entertainment, and real estate. Mr. Thorne previously practiced with Lewis Brisbois for three years before joining a small business law firm where he practiced for the last six years.

Wilmington Partner Ann Kashishian recently secured the dismissal of a lawsuit asserting fraudulent transfer and other claims against several clients in the Delaware Court of Chancery. The plaintiff, a long-term care facility located in Newark, Delaware, initiated the lawsuit against Ms. Kashishian’s clients - relatives of a former facility resident - over an outstanding balance at the time of the resident's death.
