With over 20 years of litigation and trial experience, Ms. Avila joins Lewis Brisbois from Gordon Rees Scully Mansukhani, LLP where she served as the assistant managing partner of the firm’s Westchester, New York office. Prior to practicing with Gordon Rees, she was a partner at Wilson Elser.

Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Ernie Burden to the Chicago office as a partner in the firm’s General Liability Practice. With more than 20 years of trial and civil litigation experience, Mr. Burden focuses his practice on premise liability, fraud investigations, and insurance law. He has successfully handled 110 jury trials, represented insurance companies investigating first- and third-party fraudulent claims, and achieved clients’ objectives in catastrophic injury matters. He joins Lewis Brisbois from a regional law firm where he practiced for 23 years.

Thorne back to its Los Angeles office as a partner in the firm’s Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, Commercial Lending, and Real Estate & Land Use Practices. Mr. Thorne also brings substantial multi state regulatory and deals experience in serving clients in the cannabis industry. As a broad-based corporate transactional attorney, Mr. Thorne represents parties in finance and real estate transactions, venture capital and early stage company issues, and serves as outside lead counsel for corporate clients. He regularly handles matters such as entity structuring, corporate governance, and general commercial transactions on behalf of organizations across several industries, including cannabis, international manufacturing, intellectual property licensing, cryptocurrency, entertainment, and real estate. Mr. Thorne previously practiced with Lewis Brisbois for three years before joining a small business law firm where he practiced for the last six years. 

Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Rosario Palmieri to its Washington, D.C. office as co-chair of the firm’s Administrative Law & Regulatory Practice and a partner in the Government Affairs & Public Policy and Environment, Land, & Natural Resources Law Practices. With more than 20 years of experience handling environmental, health, safety, and other federal regulatory and policy matters and government relations, Mr. Palmieri advises clients – including businesses, trade associations, and coalitions – on navigating all levels of the federal regulatory and policy process. He also manages governance and legal matters for nonprofit organizations.
