Michael Cavarretta is an associate in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice.

After graduating Fordham University School of Law cum laude in 2018, Michael began his legal career in New York State Supreme Court, where he clerked for the Honorable Carol R. Edmead, JSC. After starting as Justice Edmead's assistant law clerk, Michael was promoted to principal (senior) law clerk in 2020. While clerking for Justice Edmead, he worked on a variety of civil cases that included Labor Law and personal injury actions, commercial breach of contract matters, and special proceedings under Articles 75 and 78 of the CPLR.

Upon Justice Edmead's retirement in 2022, Michael moved to the Law Department in New York State Supreme Court, a division of court attorneys that assist with cases across the court. Michael was named the Liaison Attorney for all cases filed in New York City under the 2019 Child Victims Act (CVA). In that role, he drafted decisions on pre-trial motions and helped oversee discovery and case management strategies for approximately 3,500 CVA cases filed across the five New York City counties.

Prior to law school, Michael worked in Public Relations at Rubenstein Communications where he developed publicity campaigns for clients in the entertainment and lifestyle sectors.
