Julie Dann is a partner in the San Diego office of Lewis Brisbois. Presently, she advises attorneys about professional liability considerations and ethical obligations.

Ms. Dann joined Lewis Brisbois as an attorney in 2001. In January 2009, she became a partner. A large portion of her career here at Lewis Brisbois has focused on the defense of healthcare related claims. Over the years, she has defended medical malpractice, professional liability, business litigation, employment litigation, and general liability matters in both federal and state court. She also handled class actions, insurance coverage, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act matters, and appellate work. She also defended clients facing accusations of civil rights violations.

Ms. Dann’s legal experience includes defending a wide spectrum of healthcare providers and healthcare related workers in different aspects of litigation.  She has defended healthcare districts, private hospitals, physicians, nurses, hospice providers, home health providers, equipment suppliers, and medical groups against claims involving negligence, intentional conduct, employment disputes, and abuse allegations. She has extensive experience representing public entities in matters involving issues pertaining to the California Government Claims Act and successfully opposed numerous petitions filed with the court pursuant to the Government Claims Act resulting in early case dismissals. On multiple occasions, she has successfully defended matters via pre-trial motions, such as anti-SLAPP and summary judgment. She has also handled wrongful termination, employment discrimination, and sexual harassment claims.
