Diego Elias is an associate in the Fort Lauderdale office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Business Practice Group. Diego's commercial litigation experience encompasses a diverse range of cases, demonstrating expertise in various aspects of business law. He has worked extensively on breach of contract claims, providing him with a deep understanding of complex business agreements and dispute resolution. His experience also includes handling both derivative and direct corporate suits, which has honed his skills in navigating intricate corporate governance issues and shareholder disputes. Additionally, Diego has experience in fiduciary duties litigation, allowing him to address complex issues of trust and responsibility in business relationships. He has also worked on False Claims Act litigation, showcasing his ability to manage cases involving allegations of fraud against the government. Diego's expertise extends to Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) Article 2 dispute resolution cases, highlighting his knowledge of sales law and commercial transactions. Furthermore, he has been involved in class action lawsuits, giving him valuable experience in managing large-scale litigation with multiple plaintiffs.
Diego earned his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2024. During his time there, he served as Executive Justice for Competitions in the Moot Court Society, was an Assistant Managing Editor for Nova Law Review, and worked as a Criminal Law Teaching Assistant from 2022 to 2024. Towards the end of his Fall 3L year, Diego co-authored an Amicus brief with the Amicus Committee Florida Association of Criminal Defense Co-Chairs, for the Fifth District Court of Appeal in the case Baxter v. State. He received several honors, including the Stephanie Aleong Impact Award and the distinction of Commencement Speaker for his graduating class. Diego was also recognized with a CALI Award in Legal Research and Writing and was named Associate Editor of the Year for Volume 48 of the Nova Law Review. He consistently made the Dean's List during multiple semesters.
Diego holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Florida International University, earned in 2021. He is also fluent in Spanish, capable of speaking, reading, writing, and translating.
