Chandler Emmons is an associate attorney in the Atlanta office of Lewis Brisbois, where she is a member of the General Liability Practice.

Chandler's journey into the legal field began during her college years at Tulane University through an internship with the Orleans Public Defenders. During this internship, she had the opportunity to attend First Appearance hearings, where she was responsible for making initial client contact and gathering essential information. This enriching experience was crucial in shaping her professional identity, providing her with firsthand insight into the legal system.

Chandler earned her Juris Doctor degree from American University, where she earned a position on the International Law Review and took on the role of Director of Alumni Affairs and Faculty for the Black Law Students Association. During her third year, she was a Student Attorney in the Domestic Violence Clinic, representing clients in family law cases throughout the DMV. Additionally, she studied international human rights law in Geneva, Switzerland.

After earning her law degree, Chandler had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Aaron B. Mason in the Superior Court of Clayton County, Georgia. Throughout her clerkship, she managed a diverse array of cases across both the criminal and civil dockets. This experience not only sharpened her legal skills but also deepened her understanding of the judicial process, providing her with invaluable insights into the complexities of the law and the impact it has on individuals and society.

In her legal practice, Chandler has focused on trial and appellate civil defense matters, primarily involving civil rights, local government, and tort law. She has successfully handled cases at all stages of the litigation process, showcasing her abilities in drafting a wide range of motions, pleadings, and briefs. Chandler is experienced in defending and taking depositions, attending hearings, and participating in mediations. Her strong commitment to building client relationships enables her to negotiate favorable settlement agreements effectively.

  • Defended governments and law enforcement officers in many high-profile cases involving use of force, false arrest, malicious prosecution, false imprisonment, high-speed pursuits and conditions of confinement.
  • Defended owners and operators of commercial and residential properties in variety of state-law claims alleging tort law violations, including negligent security, wrongful death, and premises liability ranging from accidents to third party criminal activity.
  • Represented local government entities and municipalities in federal lawsuits alleging First Amendment retaliation, Fourteenth Amendment Due Process, and Open Records Act violations.
  • Authored brief in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, affirming district court’s dismissal of lawsuit alleging 42 U.S.C. 1983 violations based on qualified immunity.
