Alex B.C. Ershock is a partner in the Fort Lauderdale offices of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice. He specializes in labor & employment defense litigation in federal and state courts.
Immediately prior to joining LBBS, he worked for a boutique business law firm, concentrating exclusively on labor and employment actions in federal and state court, as well as arbitration. His primary areas of focus in labor and employment law were wage-and-hour actions and exemptions to those laws, employment discrimination and retaliation, and claims regarding reasonable accommodations and leave of absence under federal and law family and medical leave laws. Additionally, he handled breach of contract claims for management-side clients from both former employees and competing businesses, and governmental agency actions, such as charges of discrimination at the EEOC.
He also worked for the State of Florida Attorney General's office, representing state officers and agencies in a variety of matters in federal and state courts, as well as the Division of Administrative Hearings, primarily related to civil rights defense for both individual state agents and officers and their employing agencies in section 1983 actions. He also worked for a mid-sized insurance defense firm, concentrating primarily on civil rights and employment defense for municipal entities and employees, including wrongful terminations.
Alex's background gives him unique insights as to the differing defense needs from both private and government employers. While each might share the goal of a successful defense, the path to arrive at that successful defense is not the same. Alex's defense practice takes both a critical and comprehensive approach to ensure the most favorable outcome for his clients.
When he is not zealously advocating for his clients, Alex can be found zealously parenting his daughter.
