Lynn Geerdes is a partner in the Chicago office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Long-Term Care, Healthcare, Medical Malpractice, and Labor & Employment Practices. Ms. Geerdes has successfully defended numerous cases on behalf of hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, nursing home management companies, assisted living facilities, memory care units, continuing care retirement communities,  surgery centers, physicians, nurses, and home health care agencies. Lynn has presented client trainings and seminars on long term care topics including the Illinois Nursing Home Care Act and defending pressure ulcer and fall cases.

In the behavioral health arena, Lynn has successfully defended multiple psychiatric facilities, residential facilities and group homes and their parent companies against negligence claims including the alleged failure to prevent residents’ suicides and sexual assaults, among other sensitive claims.

Ms. Geerdes has experience in successfully defending high profile products liability and toxic tort litigation.  Most recently, Ms. Geerdes and her team obtained summary judgment in the Northern District of Illinois against 75 American Airlines’ flight attendant Plaintiffs alleging that their uniforms, manufactured by the UK clothing client, contained toxic chemicals that lead to their injuries and lost wages.  The court ruled in April 2025 that Plaintiffs’ experts had not established any reliable scientific theory that the uniforms were even capable of causing such alleged injuries.  This significant win was featured in a Law360 article and Ms. Geerdes and her team were nationally recognized as “Law360 Legal Lions of the Week” in April 2025.

Ms. Geerdes also has extensive experience in both counseling and defending employers in state and federal court in matters involving trade secrets, restrictive covenants, charges of discrimination, Title VII, ADA, ADAAA, FLSA, drug testing, race discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, wrongful termination, and wage and hour disputes.

Ms. Geerdes has handled high profile commercial litigation cases including intellectual property cases involving patent and trademark infringement, and trade secrets.  She has experience in the areas of mass tort, antitrust, securities litigation, breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and other business torts.  Ms. Geerdes has also successfully defended general liability, trucking and auto cases.
