Nick Govea is a partner in the Albuquerque office of Lewis Brisbois, and focuses his practice on general liability and bad faith litigation matters. Nick has extensive experience in representing large corporations, small businesses, and governmental entities in federal court, state court, and administrative law proceedings. He has advised and represented clients in a wide variety of practice areas, including, employment related issues, legal malpractice, construction defect cases, catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Nick defended New Mexico businesses, state agencies, municipalities, and school districts in employment matters, education matters, civil rights cases, complex litigation, water rights cases, real estate issues, and contract disputes. Nick is a graduate of Loyola New Orleans College of Law and a graduate of Boston University. Prior to attending law school Nick was a congressional liaison for a state agency and a high school Social Sciences teacher. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Nick is proud to call New Mexico home, where he lives with his wife, two sons, and two dogs.

Between 2018 and 2021, Nick was a frequent presenter at the New Mexico School Board Association's Board Member trainings and Leadership conferences. Nick frequently presented on legal topics including: New Mexico transparency laws, the First Amendment Rights of school district staff and students, the New Mexico Procurement Code, and the roles and responsibilities of School Board members.
