Sophie Johns is a partner in the Charleston, West Virginia office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of General Liability Practice. Sophie’s practice focuses on the defense of manufacturers, retailers, suppliers, and premises owners in toxic tort claims involving asbestos and other industrial exposures to toxic substances. Sophie also has experience representing manufacturers in the opioid litigation before the Mass Litigation Panel and in representing clients in environmental litigation, including but not limited to the defense of citizen suits under RCRA, CERCLA, the Clean Water Act, and related state law claims.

In addition, Sophie has successfully defended personal injury matters related to automotive accidents, trucking accidents, food poisoning, and slip and falls at both restaurants and commercial locations.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Sophie served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and was responsible for handling the prosecution of misdemeanors and felonies in Magistrate Court, Circuit Court, and Municipal Court. 

Sophie has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers; Best Lawyers Ones to Watch - Product Liability Litigation; and Best Lawyers Women in Law Ones to Watch. 

Outside the practice of law, Sophie enjoys spending time with her husband and three daughters.  Sophie is an avid Florida State Seminole’s fan. Sophie also enjoys cheering for her husband, as he coaches a local high school soccer team and their daughter’s recreational soccer team. Sophie has served for the past two years as the President of the Parent Teacher Adviser Committee for her daughter’s school.
