J. Tyler Opel is an associate in the Madison County office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability and Asbestos Litigation Practices. Tyler has represented clients in state and federal courts involving automobile liability, premises liability, wrongful death claims, toxic torts, construction contract disputes, first-party insurance claims, and the defense of trucking and transportation companies facing catastrophic injury claims. Tyler has experience in all facets of litigation including dispositive motions, arbitrations, jury trials, and appellate experience. Tyler is proud to serve his clients in his hometown of Edwardsville, Illinois, where he has deep ties to the community.

Tyler earned his Juris Doctor degree with a specialization in Business and Transactional Law from Southern Illinois University School of Law. During his law school tenure, Tyler enjoyed working in the SIU Civil Practice Clinic, where he provided free legal services to elderly residents of southern Illinois. He was also a summer law clerk for United States Magistrate Judge Clifford J. Proud in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
