Robert E. Spitzer is a partner in the Newark office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Healthcare, Medical Malpractice and Long-Term Care Practices. Mr. Spitzer is a highly experienced litigator whose practice now focuses on defending nursing homes, hospitals, other health care facilities and individual medical providers in professional negligence actions. During his career, Mr. Spitzer has served clients in a vast array of legal landscapes, including personal/catastrophic injury, wrongful death, premises liability, civil rights litigation, construction defect, insurance defense, landlord-tenant matters, commercial disputes and has defended governmental entities and their agents. 

Mr. Spitzer has extensive experience in all stages of litigation in both state and federal courts from pre-suit investigations through trial and when necessary, appellate practice. He has briefed and argued numerous cases before New Jersey’s Appellate Division. He has also obtained many favorable settlements through mediation and has successfully prevailed on a number of dispositive motions. 

Mr. Spitzer has served as a Member of the District VC Fee Arbitration Committee, District XA Ethics Committee, Seton Hall University School of Law’s Alumni Council and Maxwell Place Condominium Association’s Judiciary and ADR Committee. He also has served on the Board of Editors for Medical Malpractice Law & Strategy and Panelist for the Annual New Jersey Medical Malpractice Law Seminar. Mr. Spitzer is a graduate of the Justice Morris Pashman American Inn of Court.
