Alisha Talati is an associate in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois. Ms. Talati focuses her practice on labor and employment law. Ms. Talati represents and advises employers and regularly defends businesses in employment-related matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wage and hour lawsuits that allege unpaid minimum and overtime wages, tips, bonuses, and other compensation. Ms. Talati also defends and counsels employers when current and former employees allege workplace discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other violations of federal, state, and local civil rights statutes.
Ms. Talati is experienced in representing and defending businesses in federal and state court, as well in various local administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the New York State Division of Human Rights, the local Commissions on Human Rights and the Department of Labor (DOL).
Ms. Talati also provides day-to-day advice and counseling on a diverse range of workplace issues, including the preparation and implementation of employee policies and handbooks, hiring procedures, leave and accommodation requests, discipline and performance management, complaint investigations, severance and termination strategies. She works with employers to develop and conduct workplace training on sexual harassment prevention, discrimination avoidance, and wage and hour compliance. She also provides anti-discrimination and sexual harassment prevention training.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Talati was an associate for a Long Island litigation firm where she represented clients in matters involving employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wage and hour violations.
Ms. Talati earned her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law and her B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, from Stony Brook University.
