Jennifer Weatherup is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice.
Jennifer is an experienced labor and employment attorney who has represented a variety of employers in complex workplace disputes.
She has successfully defended clients in matters involving wage and hour violations, discrimination, and retaliation claims.
Jennifer is skilled in all phases of litigation, including the preparation and argument of critical motions such as demurrers, motions to strike, and motions for summary judgment. She has appeared in court for significant hearings and has effectively handled settlement and status conferences.
With a strong background in alternative dispute resolution, Jennifer has prepared for and managed successful mediation proceedings; her role involved the preparation of persuasive mediation briefs and pre-mediation reports, and communicating with carriers and clients throughout the process. She also has extensive deposition experience, having deposed witnesses and defended depositions of employees, third parties, plaintiffs, and experts.
Jennifer’s comprehensive approach to employment law allows her to provide strategic and proactive counsel to employers navigating workplace challenges.

Representative Matters
- Prevailed on demurrers to dismiss claims involving whistleblower retaliation, discrimination, and harassment.
- Successfully argued for the enforcement of an arbitration agreement in the absence of a copy signed by the employee.
- Opposed a plaintiff’s motion for class certification alleging multiple Labor Code claims, based on a showing that the class representative could not establish the required degree of common issues and based on the employee’s lack of credibility.
- Investigated legal issues pertaining to a range of employers and employment relationships, such as employment involving workers covered by the Motor Carrier Act, salespersons compensated on a commission basis, and personal assistants.
