Gregg Clifton Joins "Conduct Detrimental" Podcast to Discuss Growing Sports Law Practice at Lewis Brisbois

Phoenix, Ariz. (June 3, 2022) - Phoenix Parter Gregg Clifton recently joined "Conduct Detrimental: THE Sports Law Podcast" to discuss his move to Lewis Brisbois along with Houston Partner John Long.

"It's an exciting move. Lewis Brisbois has been kind enough to give me an opportunity to come over and not only continue my sports practice work, but to expand that platform, to where we now have 40-45 areas of expertise," said Mr. Clifton. "It really gives me and John Long, who is our NCAA guru, an opportunity to continue our work on a much more expansive platform, to be able to provide a much broader base of services to our existing clients, and hopefully to future clients interested in our services."

Mr. Clifton spoke about how having support from Lewis Brisbois multitude of practice groups - including immigration law, mergers & acquisitions, and wage & hour disputes - provides a major benefit to his ongoing work with individual athletes and LLCs.

"Lewis Brisbois has been incredibly supportive of me and everything we want to do to try and grow our practice," he said. "They already had a number of professionals working in the entertainment area. Now, we're able to combine their expertise in entertainment with our knowledge in the sports platform. We have a chance to really broaden our ability to serve our clients, not only in the labor and employment context, but much broader platforms."

Mr. Clifton also spoke about his role as a Board Member on the Sports Lawyers Association (SLA), which is a valuable resource for younger attorneys looking to establish a foothold in the industry. SLA hosts regular CLE events, including an Annual Conference, which recently took place in Atlanta, Georgia.

"This is an opportunity for you to learn from incredible sessions being run by very experienced lawyers in certain areas of the practice," he said. "What I love about the SLA is that the senior members all remember when they were the younger lawyer trying to learn. For most of us, we didn't have forums like this, Google, webinars and seminars, and these types of events. It's a chance to meet some of the most veteran practitioners on a nationwide basis."

"Conduct Detrimental" is hosted by Dan Wallach and Dan Lust, both established sports law attorneys.

Mr. Clifton is a member of Lewis Brisbois' Entertainment, Media & Sports and Labor & Employment Practices. He has extensive experience in the collegiate and professional sports world, and has advised numerous professional franchises on a range of labor and employment issues, including Title III ADA regulatory compliance and wage and hour issues.
