Lewis Brisbois Enhances Intellectual Property & Technology Capabilities with Experienced Hire

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (July 30, 2024) - Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Joseph R. Englander to its Fort Lauderdale office as a partner in the Intellectual Property & Technology Practice. Mr. Englander has been practicing law for over 20 years and has deep experience in the intellectual property (IP) space. He regularly prosecutes patents, handles trademark and copyright matters, negotiates IP transactions and licensing agreements, and manages name, image, and likeness issues. He also litigates IP cases in courts as well as before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. In addition to his proficiency in IP law, Mr. Englander has significant experience with matters involving cannabis and agricultural regulation, as well as cryptocurrency, fintech, blockchain and aircraft issues.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Englander serves as the founding chair of the Subcommittee of Heroes, Mascots, and Titles for the International Trademark Association (INTA). He is the 2024 Lawyer of the Year in Trademark Law according to Best Lawyers in America®. In addition, he is a registered lobbyist for Florida’s Department of Agriculture and is certified for Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) systems.

Mr. Englander earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
