Lewis Brisbois Expands Labor & Employment Capabilities in West with Experienced Hire

Reno, Nev. (June 26, 2024) - Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Ellen Jean Winograd to its Reno office as a partner in the firm’s Labor & Employment Practice. With more than 40 years of experience in the areas of labor and employment, transportation, and business litigation defense, she joins Lewis Brisbois from Woodburn and Wedge where she practiced for 13 years. Ms. Winograd has extensive experience representing clients in federal and state courts as well as before several administrative agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the Nevada Labor Commission, and the Nevada Equal Rights Commission. The matters in which Ms. Winograd has been involved have resulted in more than a dozen published decisions.

In discussing her decision to join Lewis Brisbois, Ms. Winograd explained that Lewis’ Brisbois’ national platform and commitment to diversity appealed to her. She described, “Lewis Brisbois offered the national access and the technology and tools that will benefit my clients. I am also delighted at the diversity – of all types and at all levels both locally and nationally – as well as the wide range of outside knowledge and interests at Lewis Brisbois.  It is an honor to be on this team.”

Outside of her practice, Ms. Winograd regularly writes for legal and business publications and speaks on panels regarding a variety of legal topics. In addition, she supports music and theater – both of which have been significant components of her education and life – by sitting on and advising the boards of several arts organizations. These include Cazadero Music Camp, Reno is Artown, Nevada Shakespeare, and the North Lake Tahoe Symphony Association.

Ms. Winograd earned her law degree from the University of California’s Hastings College of Law and her undergraduate degree from Stanford University. She is admitted to practice in California and Nevada. Ms. Winograd also is admitted in all federal district courts in California, Nevada, and Colorado, including the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Tenth Circuits.
