Mary Smigielski Re-Appointed as Chair of CBA's Labor & Employment Committee
Chicago, Ill. (June 26, 2025) – Chicago Partner Mary A. Smigielski has been re-appointed as Chair of the Chicago Bar Association’s (CBA) Labor & Employment Law Committee for the 2025-2026 term. In her second consecutive year serving in this role, Ms. Smigielski will continue to work with the CBA and members of the committee to offer educational, networking, and other opportunities designed to foster an awareness and understanding of important labor and employment issues across various industries.

The CBA is one of the oldest and largest municipal bar associations in the country. Founded in 1874, its members are lawyers, judges, and law students who practice or study primarily in Cook County. The longstanding objectives of the CBA include maintaining the honor and dignity of the law profession, promoting the general welfare of the profession’s members, and increasing the usefulness of the legal profession in promoting the administration of justice and public good.
Ms. Smigielski leads Lewis Brisbois’ employment practice in Chicago and is the Midwest Regional Chair of the Firm’s national Labor & Employment Practice and Co-chair of its Illinois Biometric Information Privacy (BIPA) Practice. Her practice involves the defense of class/collective actions and single-plaintiff employment litigation, administrative charges, nationwide employment counseling, training, and sensitive workplace investigations, including at the C-Suite level.
